Concept

There are those who believe that the calendars have come to an end. There are those who believe the planets are going to collide with each other. There are those believing the return of Jesus to life, there are those who say that art has come to its end and the rhythm has stopped, those who believe magnetic anxiety and the end of the century.

Taking our inspiration from the shadows of beliefs and ideologies by opening a black hole in the mirror we are holding with current, acute and surrealist practices, we want to stop the time, at least for a while, and we want you to contribute to this artistic destruction before the coming of the real destruction.

There is no need for a hollow optimism. We are the guests of a planet that has maximum 100 years left. We believe that human race is not superior. We believe that a new list needs to be created for admission of the living creatures to the Noah’s Ark after the flood. With today’s civilization that human race has created , it should be discussed whether this race will be accepted on board or not.

We are taking the concept of destruction into consideration in a broader range of understanding from the individual destruction to ecological, from the destruction of flesh to the destruction of time, from the spatial destruction to spiritual. It is our need to combine the enthusiasm of the utopia and the anxiety of the dystopia in a poetical perspective and to make a passenger list of the new boat of Noah.

The Plan of the Event

Destruction 2011, is going to be an independent event of art which we have discussed and organised its concept for about five months as a group. It is not going to be just an exhibition restricted in a closed space but we will also organize many other acts feeding each other: a discussion platform, performances on the street, blogs, a journal… An exhibition will be held in May 2011 as the peak of these events.

Takvimin bir sonu geldiğine inanlar var, gezegenlerin çarpışacağına inanlar var, kıyametin geldiğine inanlar, İsa’nın dirileceğine inananlar, sanatın sonu geldiğine inananlar, ritmin durduğuna, manyetik tedirginliğe ve yüzyılın sonuna...

Biz tüm inançların, ideolojilerin gölgelerinden alacağımız ilhamla güncel, şiddetli ve gerçeküstü pratiklerle bir an bile olsa zamanı durdurup, tuttuğumuz aynadan bir kara delik açıp, gerçek yıkım gelmeden sanatsal bir yıkıma katılımınızı bekliyoruz.

İçi boş bir iyimserliğe lüzum yok, en fazla 100 yılı kalmış bir gezegenin misafirleriyiz. İnsan ırkının üstün olmadığına inanıyoruz. Yıkımın ardından Nuh’un gemisine canlıların girişi için yeni bir liste yapılması gerektiğine inanıyoruz. Şu anki yarattığı uygarlıkla, insan ırkının bordaya kabul edilip edilmeyeceği tartışılmalıdır.

Kişisel yıkımdan ekolojik yıkıma, etsel yıkımdan zamansal yıkıma, mekansal yıkımdan ruhsal yıkıma taşan geniş bir çizgide kavramı ele alıyoruz. Konunun metafizik, mitolojik ve politik okumalarını gündeme alan; ütopyanın hevesini, distopyanın tedirginliğini, yeni ve şiirsel bir bakış açısında birleştirmek ve yeni Nuh'un gemisinin listesini oluşturmak için.


Etkinlik Planı

Yıkım-2011 etkinliği, S.E.T grubu içinde 4-5 aydır tartışılıp, harekete geçme kararı aldığımız, bağımsız bir sanat eylemidir. Etkinliğe Uluslararası Sürrealist gruplar, ülkeden ve yurt dışından sanatçılar davet edilmektedir. Sadece kapalı salonda tek sergi değil, bir birini besleyen birçok etkinlik düşünüyoruz: bir tartışma platformu, sokak, blog, forum, dergi...

Etkinliğin tepe noktası ise Mayıs 2011 da İstanbul da yapılacak ‘majör’ bir sergi olacaktır.
